Airport: Los Angeles Intl (LAX)

Nursing Mother’s Room

  • Location:

    • Outside of security in the international terminal, down a hallway by check in counters, after you come out of rechecking your bag/customs (for connecting flights)

    • Inside at various terminals (see link)

  • Access:

    • Outside security: You have to walk to the guest services counter at the front of the airport for the location outside of security.

    • Inside: Doors have occupied indicator (red/green) and you can access when not in use.

  • Setup:

    • Outside of security: This was not a clean or comfortable space.  It very much felt like they took an unused closet or EMT room and turned it into a space.  It does lock and has an outlet, which is good, but seats were grimy, there was dirt and trash on the floor and it smelled.  I actually didn’t stay in here to use it as I didn’t want my toddler touching it all and there wasn’t a place for her to sit while I nursed.

    • Inside of security: Terminal 6 (by Gate 64B) and Terminal 7/8 both had clean, fairly comfortable setups with a sink, paper towels, a chair and outlets.  It was basic but not bad.  My one note was that they played music very loudly in both, so trying to nurse my baby to sleep it was a little tough with all of the noise.
